Mid August Already? September is just around the corner......

Up coming dances in our area, are just the ones with the Napanee club. They have one more dance at the Mission on Water St. August 17th and a demo in Candem East on the 29th.

At our last club meeting the chance to set up a display at the Quinte Mall for registration week was kiboshed, so our club is starting up again on September 8th.

We have free nights for beginners on Sept. 15th and 22nd. Bring a friend and make sure you have put up the poster you were given in May.

The next 79 days are going to be very busy for us, we are going to have to put square dancing on the back burner..... I have less than 3 months to put together an October wedding and it is starting to get hectic.....

See ya all on a dance floor real soon.....

Another Week....

A week without square dancing is almost like a week without my morning coffee.... well not quite.... but close.

A week has past since the Rodeo dance and I am still getting comments on photos and the rodeo and the dance.... great we started a buzz..... that's what it is all about. After the recent events in Tweed this spring it is nice to see the community bouncing back and organizers say that the Canadian Cowboy Association along with the Dodge Ram Rodeo Organization were pleased with the setting and the results of the weekend. this was the first year for the rodeo in Tweed and they could be coming back on a yearly basis. The owner of the park thought our numbers were low, as most times when there is a dance in his hall, it is packed... but this was a square dance not a DJ dance so it makes it a little different.....

The newspapers all had positive things to say about the rodeo and that it served up old fashion entertainment. Well square dancing fits right into that bill and I believe they will have us back next year. We need to find away to get those people to stop and dance that are passing through.

On to the more current issues..... dancing this week.....
Tonight at 7 p.m. there is a square dance and corn roast at the home of Marg and Elwood Hughes.... we cannot make it this year. Doug has a ball game and I have to get this assignment done for my class.... ahhh we went last year and it was a lot of fun.... real sorry to miss it....

Tuesday August 10 there will be dancing in Napanee at 59 Water St, the Morning Star Mission......... again I wish I had time to make it out, but this week is insanely busy...... hope the cool weather holds out and you all have a good time....

As for me, I have assignments to do and a wedding to prepare for...... and painting ahhh so much painting....

Take care until next time

Tweed Stampede Rodeo Rocks!!!!

I was really thinking that we didn't pick a good year to start this thing as so many dancers are out of town or away at weddings.... but I was so wrong.....

We only had 3 squares show up, but what a day we had and everyone was happy and visiting and so welcomed.

Those who made a day of it and enjoyed the rodeo as well are already making plans for next year. The crew at Trudeau Park put on a great event and the Dodge Rodeo crew really gave us a show. It was awesome!

I was enjoying the rodeo so much, I didn't want to leave to go and set up for the dance. If any of our readers our rodeo fans, you got to book your spot for camping next year and take it all in....... they are coming back!

I am so grateful to those dancers who took the time to come out and join us. The air conditioning was on but the door was open so that other people would come in, it wasn't as cool as some of us would have liked it, but it was cooler than outside. The dance was 4 hours long and some people brought lunches and drinks and made a picnic out of it. Others found food vendors on the grounds and the bar was set up to sell pop and water.

Wayne did a great job putting us through our moves, even mixing it up doing some pretty strange things. Our guys and gals did a wonderful job of grabbing those spectators that came it to have a look and getting them on the floor. We even had a husband come in looking for his wife and seemed truly amazed to find her out on the floor dancing like a pro.

During breaks many of us would go out to the balcony overlooking Stoco lake and enjoy the music from the live stage down below, we had a perfect view. Wayne had to come out and investigate when he saw people were dancing on the balcony, but not square dancing...... we couldn't have asked for a better day.

The Trudeau family has offered us the room again for next year.... we need to hear from you. Do we do this again next year and make it into a summer dance? If you were there give me some input... I am looking for ideas, Doug and I had a blast and it was great. Even Marko wants to come back next year and spend the weekend with us just to go to the rodeo.... Talk to me people..... need to hear everyone's ideas.

I have more pictures up on picasaweb.google.com   just search for Tweed Stampede Dance

Thank you and Yellow Rock Y'All
